Federal Polytechnic Bida is a federally owned polytechnic that is located in Bida, Niger State.
Federal Polytechnic Bida started as Federal College of Technology, which was located in Kano before the institution was moved to Bida in 1977 by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
Following the institution from Kano to Bida in 1977, the institution was renamed Bida College of Technology, with Professor J.W. Brooks appointed as the first principal of the college. Academic activities commenced in 1978, with the institution being set up for operation.
In 1979 the institution was renamed from Bida College of Technology to Federal Polytechnic, showing a shift change in the courses that will be offered by the institution. The same year the institution moved to its permanent site in Bida.
The institution has grown to become one of the most influential and respected polytechnics across Nigeria as a whole. The institution has over 50 accredited courses and over 5,000 students across all programs offered in the polytechnic.
