Kano State Polytechnic is a state-owned polytechnic that is located in Kano State. The institution is one of the state polytechnics that was established in the 1970s; it is accredited by the National Board for Technical Education, and it is one of the major higher learning institutions in Kano State.
Kano State Polytechnic was established in 1975 by the state government of Kano to provide technical and vocational education for Kano State citizens. The institution is situated close to one of the most prestigious universities in the north, Bayero University Kano, popularly called BUK.
The establishment of Kano State Polytechnic in 1975 saw the amalgamation of different colleges and technical training to form the newly created polytechnic. Thanks to the effort of the Kano State Government, the institution enjoyed massive growth so that in the 1980s, the polytechnic not only offered ND courses in top advanced courses but also HND courses.
In the 1990s the polytechnic enjoyed a new wave of success, having secured accreditation for most of the background courses by the National Board for Technical Education, and in 2000 the polytechnic also introduced new courses to the institution.

Admission Requirement
• Candidates must have at least five (5) O-Level credit passes in WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB in not more than two sittings.
• Candidates must score at least 100 in the UTME.
• Applicants for ND (OND) programs must choose Kano State Polytechnic as their first-choice institution.
• Candidates applying for HND programs must possess a National Diploma (ND) in a relevant field.
• HND applicants must have completed one (1) year of Industrial Training (IT).
Pre-ND Admission Requirements
• Candidates with a minimum of three (3) O’Level credit passes are eligible for admission into the Pre-ND program.
• Candidates admitted into the Pre-ND program must remedy any O-Level deficiencies before they can be absorbed into ND programs.
• Candidates must possess a valid UTME result to qualify for absorption into the ND program.
• Candidates must successfully pass the pre-ND examinations before being admitted into the ND program.
