University of Delta, Agbor, is a state-owned multi-campus public university that is situated in Agbor Alihami, Delta State. The institution was established following the upgrade of Delta State College of Education to University.
The University of Delta, Agbor, was established in February 2021 by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, who deemed it fit to establish a university in the state, and with the Delta College of Education having existing facilities and structure, it fits into the plan, and that is why the defunct Delta State College of Education was upgraded instead of establishing a new university.
The university before its establishment has a deep history rooted in 1979, when it was established as an institution by the former Bendel government.
The University of Delta, Agbor, has stated earlier that it is a multi-campus university with the main campus situated in Alihame, and the other campuses situated in Owa-Oyibu and Owa-Alero, respectively.
Though established in 2021, the university has experienced massive growth by expanding its faculties to 12 within a space of a few years. This is a remarkable feat, as this might have taken some universities years to attain.
