The University of Port-Harcourt is a public federal university situated in Choba, Port-Harcourt Rivers State. The institution offers one of the cheapest tuition fee services because of its status as a federal university, but the rising cost of operation of the institution has forced the institution to increase its school fees for the 2026/2027 academic session.
The University of Port-Harcourt (UNIPORT) intention in increasing the school fees is not to cause hardship for the students but in response to the high rising operating cost, for which the revenue from the federal government is not enough to cover; hence, school fees have to be raised to maintain the education standard and also to make sure the facilities and infrastructure in the institution have been taken care of.
