Federal Polytechnic Wannune is a federally owned polytechnic that is located in Wannune, Tarka Local Government of Benue State. The Federal Polytechnic is part of the newly established polytechnic by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
Federal Polytechnic Wannune was approved in 2021 by the former late President of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari, in order to expand technical and vocational education in the North Central.
Expansion and growth are still continuing in the institution, and it has been able to achieve and attain significant milestones, having accredited most of the courses offered in the institution.
Federal Polytechnic Wannune was established with the mission of training human resources that are academically sound, entrepreneurial savvy, and highly adaptive to diverse work environments for sustainable technological development, promoting excellence in character and learning.
The institution is in close partnership with the National Board For Technical Education (NBTE), the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), NELFUND, and TETFUND.

Admission Requirement
National Diploma (ND) Programmes
• All applicants must have obtained a Minimum Acceptable Mark (MAM) of 100 and above in the just concluded 2025/2026 UTME.
• Applicants must choose Federal Polytechnic Wannune as their first choice.
• Applicants must possess five (5) O’Level subject requirements at the credit level in relevant subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
• The required O’Level credits must be obtained in not more than two (2) sittings at SSCE, NECO, GCE, and NABTEB, as applicable.
Higher National Diploma (HND) Programmes
• Applicants must possess a National Diploma (ND) with at least lower credit in the relevant accredited course/program of choice from a recognized polytechnic or similar tertiary institution.
• Applicants must have five (5) credits in relevant subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, at SSCE/NECO/GCE or relevant NABTEB O’Level examinations in not more than two (2) sittings.
• Applicants are to possess their ND Result and IT Letter for uploading before applying.
• Applicants must have a minimum of one (1) year or 12 months post-ND cognate work experience (industrial training).
• Applicants with a PASS grade (CGPA of 2.0–2.49) at the National Diploma (ND) must have a minimum of two (2) years or 24 months post-ND cognate work experience.

As discussed earlier Federal Polytechnic Wannune is a newly created Polytechnic hence the structure and facilities in the institution is not complete and this also pertains to hostel rooms in the institution which have not been fully erected.
