Ramat Polytechnic: Courses, Cut-Off Mark & Admission Requirements For 2026/2027

Ramat Polytechnic is a public state-owned polytechnic that is located in Maiduguri, the capital city of Borno State.

Though the polytechnic is situated in a part of Nigeria that is heavily affected by insecurity, the institution continues to stand as a beacon of education within the institution.

Ramat Polytechnic did not initially start as a polytechnic but rather as a technical college in 1973 by the old North-Eastern Government, and in 1978 the institution was upgraded to Ramat College of Technology to immortalise the former military head of state, late Head of State General Murtala Ramat Muhammad.

In 1979 the institution was upgraded from Ramat College of Technology to Ramat Polytechnic in accordance with the federal government’s upgrading colleges to polytechnics. The institution was accredited by the National Board for Technical Education.

Following the accreditation by NBTE, the institution entered a new phase in the 1982/1983 session when the school system was introduced to better organise the institution, and some of the schools introduced then were the School of Agriculture, School of Engineering, School of Environmental Studies, School of Management, School of Vocation and Technical Education and School of General Studies.

Ramat Polytechnic has enjoyed massive transformation since then, including the institution’s adoption of a postgraduate diploma unit in 2003.
