Federal Polytechnic Nekede: School Fees, Cut-Off Mark & Courses 2026/2027

Federal Polytechnic Nekede is a federally owned polytechnic that is located in Nekede, Imo State. The institution is ranked amongst the best polytechnics in Nigeria across the private, state, and federal polytechnics.

Federal Polytechnic Nekede did not initially start as a polytechnic but rather as a College of Technology by the Imo State Government in 1978, which at that time was situated in the capital city of the state, which is Owerri at that time, before it was moved to Nekede in October 1980.

Following the institution movement from Owerri to Nekede, the institution was upgraded from college to polytechnic status, and it was renamed The Polytechnic, Nekede. Through an edict, it continued to operate as a state polytechnic until 1993, when the polytechnic ownership was handed over to the federal government; hence, it was renamed Federal Polytechnic Nekede to mark a new ownership and structure.

Starting with just 250 students, the institution has grown to the polytechnic that hosts thousands of students across its schools.
